Here is my thought for today …
“Don’t Play To The Wrong Audience”
You’ve heard it said a thousand times in a thousand different ways: “You can’t be all things to all people.”
This is by far easier said than done. After all, we are good, hard-working, honest people. We mean no harm and to the contrary, we mean nothing but good for our prospects and clients.
I had to remind myself this morning that “the sooner somebody decides to opt of your list, the better off you are in the long run.” Why anybody in their right mind would want to terminate a relationship with me is beyond comprehension. Don’t they know I am one cool dude?
What happens to me, and I imagine it happens to you as well, is that we begin questioning our value when a person decides to say sayonara, “adios” au revoir, or see-ya-later.
This is sheer foolishness. It is an example of you playing to the wrong audience. As hard a lesson as it is to learn, everybody on the planet does not think as you do. They don’t have the same sense of humor and believe it or not, they all don’t root for the Mets. (Mind-boggling)
Anybody who has known me for more than five-minutes has heard me share this bit of wisdom.
“In the entire world, there are only two types of people. Those you can help, and the other kind.”
So without missing a beat, we must allow those who insist on forging their own path through this ever-complicated and challenging world of ours to do so while wishing them nothing but the best, and a sincere invitation to return when the time is right.
Today’s Message: Do not play to the wrong audience. There are plenty of people out there who need you, appreciate you and are happy for the day they met you.
