I was recently asked my opinion on the timing of follow-up following a Networking Event.
What was the proper protocol? Should the person seek personal information if only given a business card, and how soon after the meeting can a phone call be placed?
This are excellent questions and come with answers you may not be comfortable with.
Attending Networking Events is a good idea as long as you have the proper objectives in mind. They ARE NOT intended to sell your wares. They ARE NOT scheduled to acquire bags of business cards, so when you return home you can call people to sell your wares. So why attend in the first place? (more…)

My last blog post suggested that you get up, get out, and go to the library. As elementary as that advice may have sounded, it is a solid, proven recommendation to get your creative juices flowing again. Get yourself to the free community book emporium.

Pay attention. Following my train of thought might prove a bit challenging.
As I was admiring the flight of one of my golf shots recently, I couldn’t help but notice the bright blue sky, the luscious green surroundings and the white little ball heading in the right direction for a change. When Ponce De Leon named Florida The Sunshine State he knew exactly what he was talking about. But today’s message has nothing to do with Florida, golf or whether the Mets have a snowballs chance in hell to win a pennant come summertime.
It has everything to do with the way things work … and should work … and more often than not, do work. (more…)

Often times I become mildly embarrassed when I hear myself reminding people of what they should already know. But they don’t. So I do. And I continue to get mildly embarrassed.
Today’s reminder comes via a Sun Sentinel Sunday Morning news article titled “New Rules to Aid Struggling Home Owners.” My message has little to do with home owners, and much to do about you, the professional sales person. (more…)
